For country fans:

Aspen Black writes and performs original songs about love and the human condition, informed by a lifetime of living and extensively travelling in rural america

"Aspen Black has the voice of an angel.  I could sit and listen to her sing all day!" Dick Shoemaker, Rise and Shine Host, YNN-TV

aspen began writing songs at age two, captured on cassette tapes her mother made of her walking around their rural homestead singing original words and melodies for hours, stream of consciousness.  aspen took classical violin lessons at age 6, followed by piano, drums, marimba, and voice. her mother loved folk music and, after realizing that it was counterproductive to accompany lyric songs on violin, aspen picked up her mother's 1965 guitar at age 16 and played through the night until the sun came up, teaching herself to play from a ragged old folk songbook. since then, she has perfected her skills on acoustic guitar, electric guitar, mandolin, fiddle, ukulele, and bass. she began recording in nashville in 1993 and released two albums of original songs that charted on mainstream country radio. Aspen has a unique vocal style that combines light airyness, with sweet power, and has been compared to having vocal elements of Emmylou harris, kate wolf, joan baez and DOLLY PARTON.

aspen black has performed all over the usa for over 30 years and is a perfect fit for listening rooms, coffeehouses, rural-themed events, cowboy gatherings,

festivals, libraries, house concerts, storytelling events, museums, folk venues, wineries & breweries, and intimate concert halls.

For western festival fans:

Much more than an interpreter, Aspen's music and poetry is rooted in the acoustic string band sounds of her Appalachian mountain home, mixed with content compiled over years as a champion horse trainer and traveler, living the rural lifestyle. Expect profound lyrics, emotional depth and solid storytelling, combined with mellow fingerpicking and lively flatpicking guitar, ukulele, mandolin, and whatever else she might pull out of the case!
